USA Softball of Virginia has not received any information in the past two weeks concerning outdoor recreation sports that includes softball. Currently Phase 1 does not allow softball tournaments to be held. I spoke with a staff member of Richmond Region Tourism today and there office sent a proposal to the Governor's Office on Tuesday to have softball and baseball include in Phase 2. I personally have emailed the Governor's Office four times with the USA Softball Return to Play guidelines in hopes that softball will be included in Phase 2.

I can assure you that the frustration you have is shared by myself, USA Softball of Virginia, as well as every other softball sanctioning body in Virginia. We all want to know when we be able to return to the sport we have a passion for.

We are currently 3 weeks away from our first tournament being held in Richmond on June 13-14. We will make a final decision no later than 8 days out from the start date for all June tournaments.

The Governor has announce that he will begin briefings twice a week starting this Tuesday. He also said he does not have a specific time for Phase 2 at this point but anticipates he’ll give people a few days notice, but the earliest would be two weeks after Phase One (which began Friday, May 15).

We are all hoping that just like the announcement made Monday that beaches would be opened yesterday we are hoping that an announcement will be made for outdoor sports.
